Recently I wrote an article for the Huffington Post about 15 women, mompreneurs specifically, that are college graduates, boldly growing great businesses and serving their community. It was such an honor to see so many women, across this globe, doing amazing things. And here are some thoughts that came to my mind of the type of people to be very careful of that come along your path. There are some that you want to gravitate to and there are others that you do not.
You decide.
Today I want to share with you 3 things I've learned as a woman in business:
1. There are close minded people all around you. There are people that have the mindset, “This is how we've always done it” and they are truly completely content with that.
But there are also people that support creativity and those that are willing to push the envelope and try new things so you can get different (BETTER) results.
Surround yourself with the later.
2. There are people that don't like trying something new for fear of failure. They are the very roadblock from progress beind made. And although it makes them frustrated at times, they limit what they accomplish for worry of offending someone else that has achieved success or they doubt that there is enough room in the world for them also to have glowing success. However, there are people that are willing to put in the research, the due diligence and the sweat equity to fiercely accomplish new hurdles, new goals and push the limits on what can be accomplished.
Surround yourself with the later.
3. There are people that are boldly threatened by success in others. It makes them doubt that they'll remain ‘on top of their game'. They continually surround themselves with people that make them feel good, don't challenge them and stroke their ego with ‘well done”. But, there are also many people that love surrounding themselves with other people that know more than themselves because they love the opportunity to learn. They love growing as a person each day with new goals, new challenges and finds comfort in knowing that lifting others up, can help everyone when we're able to celebrate success in others.
Surround yourself with the later.

When I was a young single mom I think I was more in survival, rather than thriving. With young children I worked full time and went to school full time. My independence kept me from getting stuck so I created what I wanted in my life. I hope that I model this. What I think separated me from some others is I put my energy in becoming educated. When others said I can’t go to school because I’d be 30, 40, etc. when I graduate. I asked them, “How old will you be 4 years from now if you don’t go to school?” We need to follow our passion and allow ourselves to receive!

True. You would master mediocrity if you hang out with those who have no motivation to do anything and thrives on fear. Business involves risks. Great reminder for all entrepreneurs. Thanks.
