Podcast Episode #198: 10 Tips to Have Success on Clubhouse, an (Audio-Only) Social Media App
5-04-2021
Should I use Clubhouse for my Business?
Are you on the Clubhouse app? Currently, at the time of recording, the app is only available to those on iOS. However, the app will soon be rolling out to those who have an Android phone as well.
What is Clubhouse? This app is an audio-only social platform where individuals can speak and hear on different topics. Just like an social media platform there are nuances to the culture and so this podcast episode will help bring you up to speed on some of the ‘ins-and-outs' of the app.
If you're wanting an invite to the Clubhouse app, send me an email to heather@sweetteasocialmarketing.com and if I have invites, I will send one your way!
- the Raise your hand feature : if you have something you want to add to the conversation there is the ability for you to raise your hand and the moderator or main speaker of the group will decide whether they want to bring you “up” to speak or not.
- Stay Muted if you make it to the ‘stage' : if you do happen to make it to the ‘stage' immediately mute your mic as it becomes live once you're in the stage area
- When it's your turn to speak, lead with an intro to yourself : intro yourself and let people know where you're at on the screen so people can easily find you and interact with your profile
- If you're wanting to give your thoughts, give a nod or thanks to the main speaker : the main speaker doesn't necessarily let everyone who wants to speak the ability to do so, SO, if you're given the opportunity to speak, thank the main speaker for doing so
- Add value and ask great questions
- Engage with those you meet outside the app : on your Clubhouse profile, you have the ability to add links to your Instagram and Twitter accounts. If you come across someone that you enjoyed the content they brought to the conversation, reach out to them outside of Clubhouse and engage in conversation with them
- Follow people smartly : listen, just as with every other social platform, not everyone is using it smartly. You don't need to follow the person that talks about every single topic, every single day. Find the people you enjoy who are speaking on topics you're interested in
- Search feature : one thing I do love about the app is the ability to search by topic and find exactly what you're looking for
- Know who you're trying to resonate with : knowing your audience and who you're wanting to connect with is an important part of navigating Clubhouse for your business. If you don't know who that person is you're bound to spend lots of needless time on the app when you could be focused in that pursuit.
All that to say, I am not a HUGE fan of the Clubhouse app. It is growing on me and in the last 3 months I've been able to grow my following to over 800 people. Regardless of what you think of the app, that's an interesting statistic to take note of to really consider if Clubhouse is for your business or not.
