Breaking Through the Counseling Stigmas
In the church, there is a stigma around going to counseling. We're encouraged to ‘pray more' and seemingly negative emotions are viewed as bad things to simply just be prayed away.
But as a Christian leader there may be unspoken things in your heart that you fear sharing with others. Pastoral counselings goal is always to provide a safe place where you're able to express and deal with those things. Within that place you can be free to share and then, ultimately, find the freedom because of the ability to share.
If you feel you don't have anyone to talk to about what's going on inside, have an honest conversation between yourself and the Lord. Give yourself permission to seek Him and seek help.
Inside of counseling, you get to speak the stories outloud and have the mirrored back to you. It's in this place that you get the opportunity to have Ah-ha moments as you share with someone else.

My name is Rhonda Failoni, I am a Pastoral Counselor and the founder of Crescent Oasis Pastoral Counseling, Coaching and Care. As a Pastoral Counselor God has called me to care for the heart of others.
