Brand Marketing for ‘BIG Brands'
I loved this episode with Heather & Jennifer as they share their passion for helping ‘big brands' accomplish great things using social media.
What is a big brand? Heather and Jennifer define this as a brand who is creating buzz in social spaces and putting out good things in the world.
Check out Heather and Jennifer's do's and don'ts for big brand marketing:
Jennifer's DO's
- Identify what kind of role you can play in community betterment. Some might call this 'cause marketing' but find a place that you can give back to with your gifts and talents.
- Don't just talk about what everyone else is talking about. Get really clear about what you do, what makes you different and market around that. The more self-assuredness that can come through in your marketing helps to create a positive cycle of awareness and buzz around your brand.
Heather's DO's
- Start with your strategy. What are your goals? What is your messaging? Who is your target audience? What do you want to accomplish in 6, 12, 18 months? Then get everyone on the same page with what you're doing, what you're saying and how you're going to do/say it.
- Don't be afraid to set yourself apart, to be bold and take risks in your messaging and branding. Don't be afraid to be different.
Jennifer's DON'TS
- Don't try to message all things to all people. Be willing to show up as your brand without being watered down. Authenticity is so important.
Heather's DON'TS
Don't be afraid to spend money. Many are afraid to spend money because they're concerned they won't be able to measure their success. It's important to remember that there is so much more to ad spend that only increased leads or sales. Know what you're wanting to accomplish before you put money behind it to know what success looks like to you.
Favorite Quotes from this Episode
- ‘Stay authentic. Be willing to show up as your brand without being watered down.'
- “Don't be afraid to set yourself apart, to be bold and take risks in your messaging and branding. Don't be afraid to be different.”
Key Takeaway
- Get really clear about your messaging. Know what sets you apart and leverage that in your messaging.
- Consistency in messaging and showing up is key for creating a cycle of positive engagement and buzz.
- Be willing to give your marketing efforts time. 3 months in the bare minimum to begin tracking engagement. Be willing to give it 6, 12, 18 months to really begin seeing movement.
- The difference between perception and measurable benchmarks. Many of our clients begin to see the efforts of their marketing when they are able to see and feel the buzz around their brand.
